Tubal ligation, sometimes called “typing the tubes” refers to a procedure where a doctor closes the fallopian tubes. Some women choose to do this procedure as a form of birth control. For the women who  go through this procedure, they are no longer able to have children, and it may lower the risk for ovarian cancer. Once a woman has this procedure, she typically does not reverse it, although, if she is deciding to have a child, she may opt for a reversal of a tubal ligation.  If a hysteroscopic tubal occlusion procedure is not reversible, there still is hope. In this case, the best option would be IVF.
